Melanie Falcon, our current Smoky Valley IMPACT Teacher, will be honored this Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm at a virtual KSDE Kansas Teacher of the Year Region 1 celebration. (Click here to watch on YouTube)
Along with 47 other public school teachers from this region, Melanie will be recognized for her dedication and her accomplishments as a science instructor. We are excited to have a Smoky Valley teacher nominated for the KTOY program!
Dr. Randy Watson, KS Commissioner of Education, and Tabatha Rosproy, the current National Teacher of the Year and a Kansas early childhood teacher, will be the featured speakers of the program.
At this event, KSDE will announce one elementary and one secondary teacher as Region 1 Finalists. Finalists from all regions will participate in the state KTOY banquet later in September where the KS Teacher of the Year for 2022 will be announced.
The KTOY Region 1 program will be hosted virtually and all Smoky Valley staff, patrons and friends are invited to join! Several links are provided below, including the Youtube link for the awards ceremony and links to a KTOY website where you can view the program schedule.
Congratulations to Melanie Falcon, our Smoky Valley KTOY nominee!!!
