The Smoky Valley Education Association and Smoky Valley Schools recognize
members of the community who are making a positive impact on our students and
schools. This month, we would like to recognize Mrs. Traci Baker, SVMS Tennis Coach
and Volunteer Extraordinaire.
As a tennis coach, Traci makes students feel like they are a part of something great
and helps build their confidence and skills as a young player. Outside of tennis, Traci
is one of the SVMS Booster Club presidents. She sets up concessions for all of the
home games and helps teachers coordinate volunteers. When volunteers can’t be
found, you know Traci is there to step in and help. Mrs. Baker helps teachers
coordinate classroom parties and room parents, and is always going out of her way to
help teachers wherever needed.
On top of all of the time invested in our schools through Booster Club, she plays an
essential role in the Move Well Marathon. For many years she has overseen the
Marathon, getting people and schedules coordinated, and playing an active role at
Soderstrom many mornings a week throughout the fall. One or our administrators
noted that she is a person that, when you meet her, you feel better after spending time
with her. She makes you feel like you are the most important person as her focus is
always on you.
FCLA meets weekly at SVMS throughout the school year and Traci helps complete a
great team of people who plan and coordinate the weekly speakers, food, and praise
time. Staff at the middle school share how Mrs. Baker is always around to help and
continues to go above and beyond, bringing in treats for the staff and helping with
school events. Traci is always there in a time of need and is continually thinking of
more ways to help our school.
Traci is not a full time employee for our district but as much as she is in our buildings
and classrooms, you would never know it. We are so thankful that Traci has invested
so much into our schools. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our Smoky
Valley Students!
