33 years in education (4 years with SVVCS)
From a young age I was certain that teaching was going to be a part of my future. My sister and I "played school" non stop and it was clear that I loved creating tasks for her to complete and making lists to carry on my Ziggy clipboard! From my experience with two special needs friends at church I developed a passion and love for helping persons with special needs. I have been a special education teacher at all levels Kdg.-12th grade college for 33 years. My husband and I live in the country east of Salina and enjoy spending time at KSU football and basketball games as well as hiking and fishing at our family cabin in the Colorado mountains. Our two boys are both in college. The youngest is a freshman at KSU studying Computer Science and our middle son is a junior at Bethany studying to become a secondary History teacher. In my spare time I enjoy the Hallmark Channel, doing puzzles, swimming laps, reading books, road trips, cheering my husband on at his Ironman triathlons and surrounding myself with people who bring me joy! FUN FACT: I spent a month traveling throughout China summer of 1986 after I graduated from high school. What an unforgettable experience learning about their culture, traditions and educational system.
I am inspired to be part of a dynamic team who strives to make a difference for our virtual friends to encourage and motivate them to make it to the finish line and earn their high school diploma.
